Nova Bus, a member of the Volvo Group, is currently looking for a Project Manager – Charging infrastructure to fulfill an immediate need within its Customer Solutions team.
WHAT AWAITS YOU :
The Project Manager – Infrastructure (Subcontractor Oversight) plays a pivotal role in the successful deployment of charging infrastructure for our clients. Acting as the key liaison between Nova Bus engineering, customer project managers, and external stakeholders, this individual ensures seamless coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
In this role, you will support the customer project management team by taking ownership of infrastructure deployment projects, with a focus on overseeing subcontractors and engineering firms responsible for the construction and installation of charging systems. You will not directly manage the construction crews, but you will ensure that deliverables meet client expectations, project timelines, and technical requirements.
This position requires a solid foundation in complex project management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary efforts in a dynamic environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include tracking progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring that the delivered infrastructure complies with client technical specifications and quality standards.
Success in this role demands a high level of autonomy, agility, and leadership to align diverse stakeholders and drive execution across multiple projects.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES :
Collaborate closely with customer project managers and clients to establish contract details, conditions, and expectations.
Manage relationships with engineering consulting firms and contractors to guarantee work is executed effectively and comply with codes, specifications, environmental standards, and safety regulations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for Nova Bus clients regarding recharge infrastructure projects.
Thoroughly understand all contractual commitments to ensure timely delivery in accordance with deadlines and contractual requirements.
Possess a strong technical understanding of charging system features to effectively discuss and validate technical solutions with suppliers and clients in partnership with internal teams.
Monitor project milestones and perform necessary follow-ups to ensure deliverables from the product development team are met on schedule.
Develop and maintain engineering activity plans in coordination with functional managers, utilizing tools such as MS Project.
Facilitate and coordinate technical exchanges among project stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth progress.
Prepare and manage project budgets while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Ensure strict compliance with technical specifications and contractual offers throughout project execution.
Identify and evaluate contractual changes, negotiate their implementation, and assess associated costs.
Conduct compliance audits against client requirements and coordinate corrective actions with internal departments and suppliers.
Negotiate resolutions for technical compliance issues directly with clients.
Perform regular site visits to verify construction progress and address potential issues promptly.

Job requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, construction, civil engineering, or a related discipline.
10 to 15 years of experience in project management, construction management, or equivalent relevant experience.
Proven project management expertise with the ability to oversee multiple projects and deliverables concurrently.
Prior experience as a general contractor or electrician is considered a significant asset.
Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, including contract administration, budgeting, change orders, scheduling, requests for information, bidding, and material procurement.
Experience in planning and estimating mechanical and electrical engineering projects is an advantage.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly to client sites and construction locations.
Ability to work remotely in accordance with Nova Bus’s remote work policy.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record in accordance with SAAQ requirements.
Membership in the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec is mandatory.
Knowledge and skills:
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual French-English is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.
Solid understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, transformers, circuit protection, one-line electrical diagrams, and construction drawings.
Autonomous, resourceful, and capable of effective project and priority management.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to perform well under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
